We had the pleasure of working with the Independent Contractors and Businesses Association to create a commercial for them that they're playing during Super Bowl 50 in Canada. It will be airing on CTV during Super Bowl, on Global over the next few weeks and during some Sportsnet Canucks games as well.
The ICBA is the voice of B.C.'s construction industry and the oldest open shop organization in Canada. Representing the interests of over 1,200 members, ICBA has grown into a thriving member-service orientated association whose voice and leadership is respected throughout the province.
For those interested in some behind the scenes:
We wrote this script with the help of our friend Kyle Stewart. Paul directed this commercial, and Geoff DP'd and Camera OP'd. It's one of those commercials where what you envisioned in your head turned out on the camera the same way.
We shot this on the Sony FS700 with a Metabones EF adapter to use Canon Primes on it. The camera was on a shoulder rig for most of the shots, along with a matte box which held a Pro-Mist 3 filter to help diffuse light coming from windows to give the look we were looking for.
We recorded into an Atomos Shogun at Pro-Res 4:2:2 bettering the regular Sony codec, also giving us a nice large monitor for shooting and playback.
Lighting was done with 2 Arri 650w and 2 300w lights diffused through DIY scrims.
For all the interiors too we created some haze in order to diffuse light through the windows giving the "morning" light through windows we were looking for.
